Everything You Need to Know Before Your First Visit
We want your experience at Abner Creek Chiropractic to be comfortable, clear, and free from guesswork. This page covers what to expect, how to prepare, insurance and payment information, and answers to the questions we hear most from new patients.
Your First Visit
What Happens When You Come In
Your first appointment at Abner Creek Chiropractic is designed to give us a thorough understanding of your health history, current symptoms, and personal goals. Here is what you can expect:
Health History Review
We begin with a comprehensive intake process covering your medical history, current complaints, previous treatments, and relevant lifestyle factors.
Physical & Postural Assessment
A thorough physical examination including posture analysis, range of motion testing, orthopedic and neurological assessments, and spinal palpation.
Findings & Care Recommendation
We walk you through what we found and what it means — in plain language. We then present our recommended treatment approach and discuss it with you before beginning anything.
Initial Treatment (When Appropriate)
In many cases, gentle initial treatment can begin during your first visit — though this depends on your specific presentation and what the examination reveals.
First Visit Preparation
How to Prepare for Your Appointment
What to Bring
- Valid photo identification
- Insurance card (if applicable)
- Any relevant imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT)
- List of current medications
- Referral notes (if applicable)
What to Wear
Loose, comfortable clothing is ideal. Athletic or workout attire works well. Avoid tight jeans, dress suits, or restrictive garments that may limit physical assessment. You will not need to change into a gown for most chiropractic evaluations.
Timing
First visits typically run 45 to 60 minutes to allow adequate time for consultation, examination, and discussion of findings. Subsequent treatment visits are generally shorter. Please arrive 10 minutes early to allow time for intake paperwork.
Insurance & Payment
Coverage & Payment Options
We work with many insurance providers and strive to make care as accessible and straightforward as possible for every patient. We recommend contacting our office prior to your first visit to verify your benefits.
For patients without insurance or with high deductibles, we also offer straightforward self-pay rates. We believe access to quality chiropractic care should not be a financial burden, and we are happy to discuss options that work for your situation.

Please bring a valid photo ID, your insurance card (if applicable), any relevant medical records or imaging such as X-rays or MRI reports, and a list of your current medications. Arriving 10 minutes early will allow time to complete any remaining paperwork before your consultation begins.
We work with many insurance providers. We recommend calling our office to verify your specific benefits and coverage prior to your first visit. Our team will help you understand your chiropractic benefits, any applicable co-pays or deductibles, and what to expect in terms of financial responsibility.
Every patient's situation is unique. After your initial evaluation, we will provide an estimated treatment plan with a projected course of care. Some patients see significant improvement in just a few visits; others with more complex or chronic conditions benefit from a longer care program. We re-evaluate regularly to ensure your plan reflects your actual progress.
Yes. Chiropractic care has a well-established safety record when performed by a licensed chiropractor following a proper evaluation. Our clinic follows thorough assessment protocols to ensure treatment is both appropriate and safe for your specific health history. Any relevant health considerations will be discussed openly before treatment begins.
Most patients find chiropractic adjustments to be comfortable, and many experience immediate relief of pressure or tension. Some patients feel mild soreness following their first few visits — similar to what you might experience after beginning a new exercise routine. This is normal and typically resolves within 24 to 48 hours. We will always explain what you can expect before any procedure.
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is best. Athletic wear or casual clothing allows for full physical assessment without restriction. Avoid tight jeans, belts, or formal clothing that may limit movement during examination. You will generally not need to change into a gown for a chiropractic evaluation or treatment.
Our clinic serves patients across a wide range of ages and activity levels. Treatment techniques and approaches are always adapted to be appropriate for the individual patient's age, condition, and health status.
